Natural Shampoo With Sodium Bicarbonate And Vinegar

Using natural shampoos is an ecological gesture that is good for your scalp and your wallet. You will save the synthetic products that irritate the hair and you will also save money.

An ecological natural shampoo represents a healthy alternative to conventional products. Because it is made with natural ingredients  and flavored with essential oils.

In fact, nowadays, most of the products we use for our daily grooming are completely synthetic. But  also full of substances which can be dangerous for health. Since they pass through our skin through the pores and enter the blood stream.

This is what happens, for example, with shampoos. Manufacturers are looking for products that smell good and foam a lot, and we don’t realize that we are using extremely aggressive products which in the long run can be very dangerous to our health.

These contain, for example, the famous sodium lauryl sulfate, a surfactant which was used as an industrial detergent or degreaser. Applied to our scalp, it eliminates our layer of natural fat, irritates and dries our skin, in addition to being toxic.

But natural commercial shampoos are unfortunately much more expensive than conventional shampoos. Faced with this situation, a simple solution is to grab the traditional formulas which are natural and don’t cost a lot of money.

C ike example we wash the hair with a mixture of baking soda and apple cider vinegar.

Baking soda for a natural shampoo

The ingredients of natural shampoo

  • Sodium bicarbonate
  • Cider vinegar
  • Two plastic bottles

Preparation of natural shampoo

  • Dissolve a tablespoon of baking soda in a glass of lukewarm water
  • Fill the first bottle with this mixture.

This mixture is actually the actual natural shampoo. It will therefore be possible to increase or reduce the amount of bicarbonate depending on the type of hair (more or less oily). The more oily hair you have, the more baking soda will have to be added.

  • Mix a quarter of a glass of apple cider vinegar and a glass of water
  • Fill the second bottle.

This second mixture will serve as a conditioner. Likewise, you will adapt the amount of vinegar to our hair type. The drier the hair, the more vinegar will be added.

How to apply it?

  • Apply the mixture containing the baking soda on different places of the head and massage gently (with damp hair).
  • Rinse it off with water. Your hair will get a bit coarse, but the vinegar will then rebalance your pH.
  • Then apply the vinegar mixture, then rinse again.

Advice

You can add essential oils to flavor or even increase certain properties. For example, tea tree oil will help you get rid of dandruff. Rosemary oil will help you prevent hair loss. Lavender oil will relax the scalp and leave a pleasant scent.

In any case, the vinegar smell disappears when the hair is dry.

If you have dry hair, you can apply some jojoba or sesame oil after washing. Then from time to time apply a hydrating mask.

When you stop using chemicals, it takes a while for the hair to regenerate its natural protective layer. C is why during the first few days or the first weeks, it is quite possible to have more oily hair or have more dandruff.

If you are patient, with this natural shampoo, in the long run your hair will make you feel good!
