A review of studies published in The BMJ concluded that  peppermint oil was more effective than placebo in treating irritable bowel syndrome. Its effects even seem to be greater than those of fiber and are compared to those of antispasmodic drugs.

But why is it effective? Researchers suggest that this ingredient has antispasmodic activity. Menthol, one of the active compounds in mint, produces a relaxing effect on intestinal smooth muscle.   • Children 8 years and over:  0.1 ml to 0.2 ml of mint oil, three times a day.

It should be emphasized that they should not be consumed simultaneously with antacids because these break the material covering them. In addition, the capsules should be swallowed whole. It is not necessary to drink only mint oil: the correct dose is necessary and it is already measured in the capsules.

  • Drink water and healthy drinks.
