2 Recipes For Making Low-carb Bread

Bread doesn’t have to be made from grain flour. Indeed, we can prepare it from other flours, such as almond flour, as we suggest here.

Most of the time, we associate the word “bread” with carbohydrates. Therefore, we often wonder if the existence of low-carb bread is possible. The answer is yes. In addition, it is possible to find it in many stores and supermarkets.

Here is a low-carb homemade bread recipe. Take note, because in addition to being delicious, it is quite easy to reproduce.

Bread and carbohydrates

The main ingredient in bread, as is known, is flour. For its part, flour is the result of grinding cereals, usually wheat, although it is also common to use barley or rye. There are also meals of animal origin (bone, fish, etc.). In all cases, the common denominator is starch, a complex carbohydrate.

On the other hand, grains are high in carbohydrates and, although little is said about them, carbohydrate is an essential macronutrient. It performs an energy function and is part of the body’s tissues.

For this reason, it is recommended that the daily carbohydrate intake be 50 or 55% of the macronutrients needed each day.

However, on many occasions we exceed this percentage because many of the foods we eat have a high carbohydrate index. Hence,  excess carbohydrates are stored and accumulated as fat in the body.

In this sense, limiting carbohydrate intake is normal in weight loss diets. In addition, many people consume them in a moderate way so as not to gain weight and to maintain a balanced diet.

For all these reasons, bread becomes a food to be avoided for many because, coming from the flour of cereals, it generally has a high content of carbohydrates, which we ingest almost without realizing it.

Low carb bread

Either way, there are alternatives to grain bread that are tastier and more nutritious. Indeed, bread can be prepared from foods other than traditional flour. This is the case with ketogenic breads, which are all the rage at the moment and are mostly consumed by people who are on a ketogenic diet.
