Venezuelan Patacones

Ingredients

  • A lemon (20 gr)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • A carrot (20 gr)
  • A little pepper
  • 1 pinch of sugar
  • A green banana (30 gr)
  • Sunflower oil 1 liter
  • 200 grams of cabbage or white cabbage
  • 2 teaspoons of mayonnaise (20 gr)
  • 1 small spoonful of mustard (10 gr)

Preparation

  1. First, peel the banana and cut it into medium sized pieces. Fry them over medium heat for 5 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. Then, drain well to remove the excess liquid and flatten them with the help of a board.
  3. Then put them back on the heat in hot oil until golden and crisp. Drain them and set aside.
  4. Meanwhile, wash the cabbage or white cabbage well and cut it into very small pieces. Grate the carrot then mix the two ingredients.
  5. Then add the mustard, mayonnaise, lemon juice, a pinch of salt, sugar and pepper. This salad will be served on the patacones.
  6. Finally, it is possible to decorate them with mayonnaise or ketchup and add grated cheese. And there you have it, rich Venezuelan patacones!

Colombian patacones with stewed beef

Ingredients

  • A pinch of garlic puree
  • Pinch of oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Pinch of pepper
  • A white onion (30 gr)
  • 4 red tomatoes (150 gr)
  • 250 grams of chives
  • 8 green bananas (200 gr)
  • 500 grams of beef tenderloin
  • 1 cup of lager beer (330 mL)

Preparation of the patacones

  1. To start, peel the banana and cut it into medium sized pieces.
  2. Then, fry the banana pieces in oil over medium heat until golden brown.
  3. Then, on a board, mash them until they are round and thin.
  4. Fry it again on each side.
  5. Finally, drain and salt to your liking.

Preparation of the simmered beef

  1. First, wash the chives and onion well and cut them finely.
  2. Then, pour a spoonful of sunflower oil in a pressure cooker over medium heat and brown the onion and chives.
  3. Then add the pinches of salt, pepper, garlic puree and cumin.
  4. Then, once the onion is transparent, add the tomato cut into small squares and brown.
  5. Then, incorporate the meat previously salted and peppered and seasoned on top with a little oregano.
  6. Then add two cups of water to cover the meat as well as the lager.
  7. Cook in a tightly closed pressure cooker for 45 minutes or until the meat is tender and ready to be cut into pieces easily.
  8. Then put the meat in a bowl to cool and crumble it with your hands.
  9. Finally, place the meat on the patacones and add a little of the mixture of onions and tomatoes with which you prepared the meat.

Patacones with avocado cream

Ingredients

  • 1 lemon (20 gr)
  • Salt (to your taste)
  • Oil (to your taste)
  • 3 avocados (80 gr)
  • 1 kilo of green bananas
  • A spoonful of sugar (10 gr)
  • 1/4 cup of cream cheese (50 gr)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of coriander (5 gr)

Preparation

  1. First, prepare the patacones as in the previous recipes and set aside.
  2. Then mix the flesh of the avocado with the cheese, cilantro, sugar and the juice of half a lemon.
  3. Then, crush until you obtain a light cream.
  4. Finally, adjust the seasoning and serve on the patacones.

Ingredients

  • A lemon (20 gr)
  • 1 liter of oil
  • A little salt
  • Pinch of pepper
  • A green banana (40 gr)
  • 4 tablespoons of cream cheese (50 mL)
  • 4 tablespoons of liquid cream (50 mL)

Preparation

  1. To start, peel the banana and grate it. Add the lemon juice and a pinch of salt.
  2. Then, on a board and with your hands, gather the slices of grated banana, which should be very thin.
