8 Home Remedies For Large Pores

Besides reducing the appearance of large pores, these home remedies will also help you fight acne and other blemishes; they are also great for exfoliating the face and getting rid of dead skin cells.

Lack of hydration, humidification, inadequate cleansing, or bad habits (such as smoking or lack of exercise) can affect the quality of your skin, leaving it dull, wrinkled and bruised. But also you trigger another problem, namely that of “enlarged pores”.

Enlarged pores are a big cosmetic concern for both women and men: although it is benign, large pores are often considered unsightly. And unlike what many people do, there is no cure for tightening pores.

In fact, as dermatologist Valentín de Benito Rica points out in his blog, pores cannot open or close, although it is possible to improve their appearance. So when we talk about “tightening the pores” we are only referring to a way of cleaning them to make them less noticeable.

What can you do to improve the appearance of large pores?

According to a publication in the journal  Dermatologic Surgery,  the treatment of large pores depends primarily on factors associated with its development. The dermatologist therefore suggests treatment based on possible underlying causes such as:

  • excess sebum
  • decreased elasticity of the skin around the pores
  • increased hair follicle size

At present, there are certain solutions which may prove useful in combating this aesthetic problem (topical retinoids, chemical exfoliations, oral antiandrogens, laser, etc.). However, each case must first be evaluated by a dermatologist.
